Frequently Asked Questions

When a customer registers a domain with us, we make their email address the registrant of the domain and only they can vote the domain transfer. For co.za domains the domain will move immediately when the registrant accepts the transfer request.

Please contact the account holder about the domain transfer request. Only the account holder can vote on domain transfers. We do not get involved in domain ownership disputes.

Due to the prevalence of cybercrime and theft of domains and data to hold ransom, we treat everyone whos not the account holder, as a general member of the public and can not disclose personal information of account holders to the public. If a member of the public paid someone to design or host a website for them and that person disappears, its advisable to review your legal agreements with that 3rd party. If you have proof that you own a service which someone didn't register in your name then you have legal grounds to file a complaint to ZARC. Please see the Domain Name Dispute Resolution page at : https://registry.net.za/content.php?gen=1&contentid=31

The protection of personal information act prevents us from disclosing personal customer information to members of the public.

The person who registers a service, owns the service. That makes them the owner of the domain and data. We as the data custodians guard the domain and the data by any means required. We will not give a domain or data to anyone other than the account holder.

The below message is noted on every profile that exists with us: Please be kind to your family and friends, business partners and customers. Please set your account holder email address to one that your loved ones or business partners have access to, or atleast add contacts for them to be able to take ownership of your profile if you were unable to manage your profile any longer. Life happens to us all, please take care of this small detail which can avoid hardship when you are no longer here. Profile changes can be requested via the support ticket system and by emailing support@webspacebar.co.za from the account holder email address. You can also ask us to add an Admin Note to your profile.

For loved ones who are reaching out to access information on the profile of a family member or business partner, we must take caution to ensure that we dont have someone perform a social engineering attack, pretending to be someone, in order to obtain a domain or data.
For that reason a few checks to confirm validity of the situation.
An email from the new account holder needs to be sent to support@webspacebar.co.za with the following documentation
1) A death certificate of the account holder.
2) An affidavit with a police stamp confirming ownership of the domain names to move, the email address of the new account holder and email address of the old account holder to confirm that you knew the previous account holder closely and that you have great knowledge of what's on their profile.
3) Proof of residence and ID of the new account holder also with police stamp confirming that the information is legitimate.
4) At least one paid invoice from a previous month.

The death certificate with police stamp confirms that the account holder has indeed passed away, as its possible to fraudulently make a death certificate a few security checks follow.
The affadavit with police stamp containing the domain names that are to move indicates the person knows the profile of the person who has passed.
Proof of residence and ID of the new account holder also with police stamp confirming that the information is legitimate - so that in the event that this was fraudulent we have documentation for a police investigation.
At least one paid invoice from a previous month confirms that the new owner is either family or business partner of the previous profile holder.
Following receipt of these documents we will try to contact the phone numbers listed for the account holder to confirm that the number isnt answered by the account holder, usually a family member picks up who confirms that the request is indeed valid.
Following that we request that the new account holder makes a profile with us so we can move the domain and data to their profile.
